Stop Worring and Start Living

By Howard Young | August 12, 2007

How to Stop Worrying and Start LivingHow to Stop Worrying and Start Living reached out to me yesterday.

We had to get a smog check for our ‘97 Toyota Avalon and purposely scheduled a late lunch so my wife and I could get her car tested around 2:00PM to avoid the “lunch crunch.” The Smog Check Center runs as a FIFO, a queue, that is, first come first serve.

Apparently, the center was very busy, so even at two, there was a 45 minute wait. Perhaps, like me, all their customers wait until the very last day to get their car tested.

We decided to walk up the street to The Book Bag and browse around for a few minutes. The Book Bag is an incredible used book store where the donated books have never been read or just read once! It’s not like one of those old musty used book stores, you may have visited before. I doubt you’ll pay more than $3 for a book!

But next door is a Thrift Store, where I imagine, the lesser quality, read twice books are handed over for donation. We stopped in there first and walked over the to the used books.

I found the next two books in the Left Behind series which I’m currently reading and of course, How to Stop Worrying… by Dale Carnegie.  All in excellent condition and only one dollar each!

My plan was to browse through it while waiting for the test to complete. But when we got back to the Smog Center, the testing was complete and passed! I didn’t get to browse through the book until later that night, but so far it looks like Carnegie wrote a timeless masterpiece…   More on this later…
